Education Services supports all of the school districts in the county: approximately 3,300 school administrators, certificated staff, classified staff, and 30,000 students. The department provides professional development opportunities, assistance in program evaluation, advice on state and federal initiatives, initiates applications for grant funding, and offers leadership in the use of resources including instructional materials and technology.
The department accomplishes it goals through a large number of programs, services, and activities including the Marin County New Teacher Collaborative (formerly BTSA), academic competitions, and school recognition programs. The department also facilitates a variety of collaborative groups such as the County Learning Collaborative (CLC), the Private/Independent/Parochial Schools group, and the Counselors' Network.
